This Giant hypermarket at Pioneer Mall occupies the top 2 floors of Pioneer Mall. It is like any supermarket in the neighborhood except for the following:
Uncle Jack

Even though the wallpaper says fried chicken, Uncle Jack actually sells roast chicken in 2 flavours: honey and black pepper. Reasonably priced and perfectly cooked. Did I mention that their coffee is also excellent? The Americano only costs $1.00.
Rest Area

Next to Uncle Jack is a rest spot with tables and chairs. This is the first supermarket that I noticed have a rest area.
I think it might have been set up for Uncle Jack’s customers but most of the people who used this place now are the elderly uncles and aunties who needed a quick rest after their grocery shopping.
I use this space to enjoy my Uncle Jack’s coffee and pack my grocery items into my backpack, all the while eyeing the baked goods lining the shelves.
Charging Ports

The benches along the wall have power points with USB ports for charging electronic devices. I did not see anyone using it while I was there. I was tempted to bring my charger the next time I visit.
Connection to the Carpark

I don’t drive anymore but if I do, this would have been my go-to supermarket. 2 floors of the carpark are directly connected to the exit of the supermarket. The top floor may get too hot for the car, but the floor below is another story.
This Giant hypermarket at Pioneer Mall may not be as new and shiny like FairPrice Xtra at Jurong Point, but it has a laid-back charm with none of the hustle and bustle.
