Category: Personal Finances

This Personal Finance category contains records and reflections on my personal finance management, options and stock trading, investment strategies, portfolio plans, actions, outcomes, and learning points.

I was introduced to options trading in April 2021 by a friend. At first, I couldn’t wrap my mind around it but am now happy to say that I have picked up the basics. It has been a humbling experience.

My main objectives for trading options are:

  1. Generate some income
  2. Purchase stocks I want at a discount

I keep a log of all my options and stock trades in Google Sheets. Strike prices, risk and reward ratio, win rates, yield percentages, etc. I find this log helpful for review and planning.

I was told that journaling my options trades and reflecting on my trades afterwards will help improve my trading. That is what I am trying to do here.

Financial Peace

I have gone through sufficient financial mistakes to know that I need guidance. I came across Dave Ramsey’s Baby Steps to Financial Peace and found that it shared similar traits with the Singapore Government’s approach to helping citizens secure financial stability.

I decided to find out more and apply any that I found useful to the Singapore context. I document my learning points and reflections here.

Buy me a coffee

Coffee has been a constant companion while I file away. Buying me a cuppa proves that my site has made a difference. It is greatly appreciated.

Hello, I’m Phoebe

Springorchid Files is my personal site. I file information and media that interest me so that I can easily go back to them. It is literally my filing cabinet in the cloud. Learn more about me and what I file.

It is also my active learning project. I am a believer of the quotation below.

I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.
