Restful Increase Lyrics and Chords by New Creation Church Singapore

restful increase

Restful Increase reminds me of Matthew 11:28-30. Jesus’ call to people who are tired of trying to please God with their own works. Jesus said, “I will give you rest”.

The world teaches us that success comes with hard work. Heard of this? No Pain No Gain.

As a young Christian, I was taught to attend Sunday service and Tuesday prayer meetings faithfully, tithe regularly, read the bible and pray every day, and evangelize to friends and family.

When I started faltering, I felt guilty. I felt I did not deserve blessings from God because I am such a weak Christian.

Yet, Jesus said,

28 “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30 WEB

Jesus said His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Let us take Him at His word and do not burden ourselves unnecessarily with our own ideas of what serving Jesus mean.

Let us come to Jesus and rest. The more we rest in Jesus, the bigger the increase.

Lyrics for Restful Increase

Words & music by Aaron Tabensky, Sean Goh. Copyright 2010 New Creation Church, Singapore

No longer striving, no longer stressed
In You, my Jesus, I've found my rest
No longer toiling, hard labour ceased
For You've assured me
Restful increase

Your open arms held nothing back
Your life for mine
You overpaid my debt
Free in Your love
I have found my rest
Your heart's delight
Is to see me blessed

You've given me peace all around
Now I'm enjoying
This grace I've found
Health in my body, joy in my soul
Jesus, my future is filled with hope
