This lattice cable bag knitting pattern is inspired by the Knit Your Cables Afghan designed Edie Eckman for Yarnspirations. The blanket is made up of squares knitted using a variety of cables. There are a total of 10 cable patterns: B to K.
I used the pattern in Square K called Lattice Cables Square to make the body of the bag. The lattice cable stitch is a type of 2×2 braided cable. I have included the written instructions for the lattice cable stitch. If you prefer the chart instructions, do download the Knit Your Cables Afghan.
My bag size: 26 cm (10 inch) wide x 20 cm (8 inch) high.

Attach ring handles
Fold the handle flap over a ring handle. Pin to secure the flap. Using the long tail, sew in place to secure the ring to the bag. Repeat for the other flap.

Seam the Bag
You will end up with a long strip of knitted fabric with 2 ring handles attached.
Fold the bag in half right sides together and line up the edges neatly. Pin if you have to.
Sew the edges together using back stitch until 2 inches or 5 cm from the handle. The bag is basically completed although I highly recommend lining it.

I love the look of the lattice cable on a small handbag. Hope you try it.
